Many of you will remember Upper Deck's first card; the Ken Griffey Jr. card from the brand's first set in 1989.

Today on Slate.com, I make the case that the card is one of the three most important baseball cards ever produced.

No matter how many homers Griffey hits, for guys in my generation, this card is the lasting memory.
