Alliant Techsystems Awarded Air Force Rocket Contract

Alliant Techsystems Inc. [ATK  Loading...      ()   ], a military contractor and aerospace company, said Wednesday it will supply rockets to the U.S. Air Force under a contract worth as much as $250 million.

The seven-year Sounding Rocket Program Three contract provides for suborbital, solid-fuel rockets, as well as related engineering and integration services, that can be used as targets for defensive missiles or to conduct various tests.

The number of rockets, which will be used by Pentagon agencies and NASA, being supplied was not disclosed.

The Air Force's Space and Missile Center, Space Development and Test Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico will administer the program.
