Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge:  Trades of the Day

Nearly 8.2 million shares and over $10 billion traded Thursday in CNBC's Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge. The top currency trader has more than doubled his money making over $289,000 since currency trading began. Contest Widely Helds and Actives:

  • Among the top currency traders,our scalper continues to be profitable making another $30,000 in fast trades on the EUR/USD and GBP/USD, holding onto a positions for three minutes or less
  • Another leader also favors the EUR/USD, but in long positions measured at hours rather than minutes or seconds
  • AUD/JPY continues to be popular amongst the top traders and one of our leaders got in just before the Australian Trade Balance numbers and and held his position until after the US payroll data where the Aussie dollar fell against the greenback
  • The top most active currency tradesin the continued to be the EUR/USD ,and EUR/JPY with the NZD/JPY pair climbing to the third spot in the currency actives for the past two trading days
    • The GBP/USD has held the third spot throughout the majority of the contest

  • Ambac Financial and Rite Aid moved aheadof Sirius in Thursday's Contest Most Actives trading more than 70M and 60M shares respectively

  • Sirius Satellite Radio holds the top spot in the Widely Helds with almost 2.5B shares owned in the contest

  • Industrials step it up with UAL rejoining the top Widely Helds giving Industrials 35% of the top 20. RF Micro Devices lost its position in the Widely Helds with UAL's addition

    • WD-40 Co. if you bought on Wednesday before 4pET and held/sold on Thursday, you made 4.58%
    • American Public Education if you bought on Wednesday before 4pET and held/sold on Thursday, you made 3.17%
