Nearly 1.3 billion shares and $13.5 billion traded yesterday in CNBC's Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge. The top currency trader has more than doubled his money making over $480,000 since currency trading began. Contest Widely Helds and Actives:
The top currency traderis currently holding the first spot in the overall leader board
Our currency leader continues to be profitable by making fast trades on the EUR/USD pair, holding positions for only minutes at a time avoiding large moves, as he managed to make massive profits chalking up another one day gain of almost $8,500
On Tuesday, the euro hit a record highagainst the dollar of $1.6036 per euro, according to Reuters Dealing data, but the 4.4% drop in crude oil prices helped the dollar move off its lows
USD/JPY continues to be popular, as one of our leaders racked up a one day gain of $20,000 in this pair, followed by another leader who made $10,000 closing out one position.
Although the most actively traded currency pairs remainthe EUR/USD, USD/JPY, and GBP/USD, the GBP/CHF cross entered the top 10 most actively traded currency pairs in the contest displacing the EUR/GBP cross
Sirius Satellite Radiois not in the Top 5 Most Actives, perhaps for the first time in the contest. However, Sirius continues to lead in the Widely Helds, followed by Raid Aid
The Contest Actives are dominated by Financialswith Ambac Financial (ABK), Washington Mutual (WM), Freddie Mac (FRE), and Fannie Mae (FNM) in the top 5
Industrialsrepresent 35% of the top Widely Helds, with Financialsat 25%
