North Shore Technology Council Elects New Board-of-Director Members and FY 2008/2009 Executive Committee

BEVERLY, Mass., Jul 24, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The North Shore Technology Council (NSTC) proudly announces the election of a new board of directors and its fiscal year 2008/2009 executive committee. Together they will lead the council in helping grow a vibrant technology economy in northeastern Massachusetts.

"I look forward to building on the successes of my predecessor Tom Cheatham," states Lyn Kaplan, newly elected NSTC president and an Administaff consultant.

"Under his leadership, the North Shore Technology Council quickly advanced its economic development mission and helped launch the North Shore Life Sciences Accelerator from the council's two-year-old Biomedical Technology Section.

Looking ahead, the council will add new cluster sections with the next one focusing on sustainability. We will also continue working with industry leaders, educational institutions, and public sector officials to strengthen the region's technology economy." NSTC Seats Board of Directors New NSTC directors elected to three-year terms are: -- Denis Robitaille, vice president and chief patent counsel, Axcelis Technologies, Inc. (Ipswich resident) -- Scott Friends, plant manager, Evergreen Solar, Inc. (Manchester-by-the-Sea resident) Charles C. Francis, Granite Bridge Advisors Inc. president (Rockport resident) was reelected to serve a three-year term as director.

Also sitting on the North Shore Technology Council's board of directors are: -- Tom Cheatham, finance and administration manager, Jewish Big Brother and Big Sister Association of Greater Boston (Swampscott resident) -- Debra Darby, director of marketing communications, Metabolix (Gloucester resident) -- Curt Flory, president, Zircon Company (Salem resident) -- Janice Forsstrom, VP administration and finance/CFO, North Shore Community College (Peabody resident) -- Dick Jewell, project director, Netfrastructure Solutions (Manchester-by-the-Sea resident) -- James L. Kawski, manager of market research and communications, Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, (South Hamilton resident) -- Harry G. McCoy, president and CEO, Thorne Diagnostics, Inc. and chairman, North Shore Life Sciences Accelerator (Salem resident) -- Frederic H. Morris, partner, Brook Venture Partners (Manchester-by-the-Sea resident) -- Perry Morton, managing director, Baldwin & Clarke Corporate Finance, Inc.

(Marblehead resident) -- Charlie Orosz, director of training and operations, New Horizons Computer Learning Center (Salisbury resident) NSTC Elects Fiscal-Year 2008/2009 Executive Committee The North Shore Technology Council also elected four executive committee members who will serve one-year terms, concurrently with their board seats. Those people are: -- President - Lyn Kaplan, consultant, Administaff (Marblehead resident) -- Vice President - Martha C. Farmer, president and COO, North Shore Life Sciences Accelerator (Manchester-by-the-Sea resident) -- Vice President - Charles C. Francis, president, Granite Bridge Advisors Inc.

(Rockport resident) -- Secretary - John D. Colucci, partner, Colucci Norman LLP (Wenham resident) -- Treasurer - Gordon W. Ulen, CPA (West Peabody resident) After completing two one-year terms as president, Tom Cheatham assumes the position of past president and executive committee member.
