Water Stocks Help You Stay Afloat
Michael Gaugler, senior vice president at Brean Murray, Carret & Co., and Neil Berlant, portfolio manager at PFW Water Fund said investing in water manufacturing and pipeline company stocks are the way to go.
“We’re typically looking for the technology and infrastructure plays,” said Gaugler.
"I look at water a bit more globally," said Berlant.
“The infrastructure in the U.S. is exceptionally old -- the pipes in the ground almost go back 100 years. More to the point, you’re having more EPA regulations coming on right now that deal with water quality," said Gaugler. "So those are the areas that we’re particularly focused on.”
“I think one of the most important issues is that people overlook the significance of water. This isn’t about shortages of water, nor is it about quality specifically, it’s about recognition of the fact that water permeates every aspect of our life, from manufacturing to growing food to health care to sustaining life itself,” said Berlant.
