Get the Most Out of Your Frequent Flier Miles
Topics:Airlines

If you’re a frequent flier, the skies are getting a lot less friendly. Between fees, fewer flights and blackout dates, you may have a ton of miles but no way to use them.

Michelle Higgins of the New York Times points out a few web sites that can help make life a little easier for frequent fliers.

Points.com: A site that allows you trade or barter your miles or points with other fliers through its “Global Points Exchange” program. You still have to pay the transfer fees, but you can set your own ratios and unload or pick up extra miles with total strangers.

LoyaltyMatch.com: Lets you convert your miles into merchandise that you can then sell for cash, a la eBay.

ExpertFlyer.com: For a small fee, you can see the award tickets and upgrade seats that are left on any given flight. You can also set up email alerts to tell you when the best seats are released so you can be the first to grab them.
