S&P Makes Biggest Jump Ever

On the announcement of the Government takeover of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the markets surged on the open. The S&P 500 initially jumped over 30 points, more than it has ever moved on an open. While not a record, the Dow jumped over 300 points on the open as well. According to data from LIM, here are the biggest point jumps on the opens.

S&P 500: Opens with gains over 10 points



Leading the S&P on the open are Regions Financial , Genworth , Wachovia , Lennar , and Pulte Homes .
