Deal for Extension Filers: Free Fed Prep & eFile
October 15 is the extended filing deadline: prepare and file Personal 1040EZ Tax Returns for Free at Turbo Tax Online. If you need to file a more complicated personal tax return, you can also get free Federal E-Filing with all Turbo Tax versions. All versions also include a free trial mode. In fact, for all versions beyond the Free 1040EZ, you can still try the service through the question and answer-based tax return preparation process up to the point of printing or filing before you'll be obligated to pay. The Turbo Tax site now has additional version by version detail to make it easier to identify the best version based on the type of return you'll need to file.
State returns are also available for the various versions for $26 to $30. The free Federal E-Filing offer adds to the online vs. boxed product savings. If you filed for a 2007 filing extension, the deadline is coming up on October 15.
