TRENTON, N.J. - Richard Bilotti will step down as president and publisher of The Times of Trenton next month after nearly 25 years of service at the paper and more than 50 years in the newspaper industry.

Bilotti will be succeeded as publisher by Brian Malone, the paper's editor, who will continue to serve in his current post.

Owned by Advance Publications Inc., which is controlled by the Newhouse family, the paper recently offered buyouts to newsroom employees.

Managers there and at The Times' much larger sister paper, the Star-Ledger in Newark, are in the midst of carrying out those buyouts and other cost-cutting measures aimed at returning the papers to profitability.
