WAYNE, Pa. (AP) — Shares of Kenexa Corp., which makes Web-based recruitment and employee development tracking software, hit a new 52-week low on Tuesday as investors reacted to its Monday announcement that third-quarter earnings fell 23 percent and missed Wall Street's expectations.

NEW YORK (AP) — Shoe and handbag maker Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. said Tuesday it swung to a $1.6 million loss in the third quarter as investments soured despite an increase in revenue and adjusted earnings that beat Wall Street expectations.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) — Drug developer Vivus Inc. reported a nearly 80 percent decline in third-quarter profits Tuesday, falling short of Wall Street expectations because of increased spending on developing an obesity drug.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Shares of oil and gas exploration company Unit Corp. rose Tuesday after the company said its third-quarter profit rose 44 percent as natural gas production boomed to record-high levels.

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — PetroQuest Energy Inc., an independent petroleum producer, on Tuesday reported its third-quarter profit more than doubled on higher revenue, but fell short of analysts' forecasts.

PHOENIX (AP) — Electricity and energy provider Pinnacle West Capital Corp. said Tuesday its net income for the third quarter fell 27 percent from a year earlier due to milder weather and higher costs related to fuel and expanding the electric system.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — HCP Inc., a health care real estate investment trust, said Tuesday fiscal third-quarter results improved, boosted by the sale of a hospital, legal settlements and higher rental revenue.
