MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (AP) — The gas producer NiSource Inc. said Tuesday its third-quarter profit nearly doubled on the sale of its equity stake in JOF Transportation Co. and a lower deferred income tax liability and income tax expense.

DALLAS (AP) — Holly Corp., an independent petroleum refiner and marketer, said Tuesday that its third-quarter profit decreased 14 percent due to higher tax rates, but results beat analyst expectations.

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (AP) — Building materials supplier Headwaters Inc. said Tuesday its fiscal fourth-quarter loss swelled due in part to the expiration of a tax credit, an impairment charge and a drop in sales.

ATLANTA (AP) — Shares of Post Properties Inc. fell Tuesday after the apartment real estate investment trust posted weak third-quarter results and warned that it may have to spent up to $45 million on repairs.

SEATTLE (AP) — Shares of Expeditors International of Washington Inc. jumped Tuesday after the freight forwarder and logistics company reported third-quarter earnings that rose from a year earlier and topped Wall Street's expectations.

BELOIT, Wis. (AP) — Regal Beloit Corp., which makes motion control and power generation products, on Tuesday said its third-quarter profit rose 18 percent on strong demand for generators and other motors.
