And So It Goes ...

While the celebrating started in Chicago and elsewhere, here in the ballroom at McCain headquarters the crowd wasn't aware that the major networks had declared Barack Obama the next President.

The only shot up on the monitors in this room showed the empty podium where John McCain would soon speak. When, about 11:12 p.m. Eastern time, those monitors switched to various networks declaring Obama had won, there was a collective gasp, a couple of shrieks. But it passed after a nanosecond. No one seemed truly surprised.
