BJ's Wholesale Club hikes 3Q guidance

NATICK, Mass. - BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. on Thursday raised its third-quarter earnings-per-share outlook, citing higher-than-expected gasoline income that boosted same-store sales in October.

BJ's raised its third-quarter guidance to a range of 45 cents to 49 cents from a previous outlook of 36 cents to 40 cents. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect earnings per share of 39 cents for the quarter.

The retailer is expected to report its third-quarter results on Nov. 19.

Shares of BJ's Wholesale Club advanced $1.78, or 5 percent, to $37.36 shortly after the market opened. The stock has ranged from $26.36 to $44.29 over the past year.
