Andersen eliminates 52 positions at Wis. plant
BAYPORT, Minn. - The Andersen Corp. says it is eliminating 52 positions at its Menomonie, Wis., window-making plant because of the downturn in new home construction.
Andersen's Menonomie plant makes windows specifically designed for large production builders who build new, mid-range priced homes. The company says that's the segment of the home construction marketplace that's been hardest hit.
Andersen says the work force reduction is "based on current market realities."
Affected employees will be offered a severance package and other help with job transition. The Bayport, Minn.-based company says it's also partnering with the state of Wisconsin to coordinate additional resources and retraining services.
