HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Economic development officials have announced plans for a $49 million Pepsi bottling facility in Hattiesburg.
The Pepsi South facility is expected to begin production in late 2009.
The Area Development Partnership, Brown Bottling Group and Wis-Pak, a consortium of bottlers based out of Watertown, Wis., made the announcement Thursday.
Brown Bottling Group approached area development officials two years ago about the project. The facility will bottle and provide Pepsi products to the South.
Brown Bottling Group is a Mississippi company based in Ridgeland. It is the first Mississippi bottler in the consortium of bottlers included in Wis-Pak. Brown Bottling Group currently distributes Pepsi Cola products throughout central and south Mississippi with locations in Jackson, Hattiesburg, McComb, Meridian and Natchez.
