President-elect Barack Obama will not make any Cabinet announcements this week, a spokeswoman said Monday.
Financial markets, which are struggling in a global credit crisis, are awaiting news of Obama's appointments for key jobs such as Treasury Secretary. He said Friday he planned to unveil key appointments soon but did not give details.
"No Cabinet announcements this week," Stephanie Cutter, a spokeswoman for the Obama transition team, told Reuters.
Also, Obama will not attend the global financial summit in Washington on Nov. 14-15, an aide said Monday.
The Bush administration has called the summit of the countries representing the world's leading economies to begin thrashing out a strategy for dealing with the global financial crisis.
Obama takes over as U.S. president on Jan. 20.
