The question many have been asking is “What’s up with the suit?” On his web site, Davis says he “was the first college and pro athlete to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated wearing shoes featuring the now famous swoosh” and that he “remains associated with Nike today.”
The story of Anthony Davis being one of the earliest athletes to wear Nike is well documented. His performance is his first game in Nike shoes still stands as one of the greatest performances in USC history. Nike currently produces a replica #28 Davis USC jersey. You can find the jersey here atwww.eastbay.com.
As for the suit, he says he’s not obligated in anyway to wear it. He loves the company and thinks the suit looks cool. For it’s part, Nike says that while Davis was once a Nike athlete, he is not currently under contract. The company also says it was not involved in the creation of the suit, which is a shame because we like the suit here at CNBC Sports Biz.
Still, it strikes us that Davis is missing a good money making opportunity. Why promote a company when you aren’t getting paid for it? We suggest Davis break out a new look for USC’s next home game:
