Filmmaker Michael Moore Takes Aim At Financial Crisis

AP

Michael Moore has redefined the business of making documentaries, his 2004 "Fahrenheit 9/11" bringing in an unprecedented $222 million at the worldwide box office.

Now Moore's next film takes aim at the business of business: the financial crisis. Moore's movie was original expected to focus on foreign policy, but with the markets in turmoil, he's focusing on the financial mess and what got us here.

Viacom's [VIA  Loading...      ()   ] Paramount Vantage and Overture Films, a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation [LINTA  Loading...      ()   ] , announced in May that Moore would be doing a much-anticipated follow up to "Fahrenheit" and now this is it. But with the automakers in crisis it seems fitting that Moore has also said that the movie is also in many ways a bookend to his 1989 "Roger and Me" about the American auto industry. A Hollywood reporter article reports that the untitled movie will contain an "end-of-the-empire tone."

Moore delved into the effects of a weak economy in "Roger and Me" and attacked George Bush in "Fahrenheit." It seems fitting that his new movie will effectively merge those two, looking at the course of events that created this economic mess at the end of Bush's administration.
