Cavs Owner Doesn't Mind Buzz Over James

Last week, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James came to New York and freely talked about being a free agent in 2010. The way James talked about New York offended some, including basketball Hall of Famer and TNT personality Charles Barkley.

Tonight, on "CNBC Reports," Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said the fuss over his investment, who is contractually committed to play for him for the next 567 days, was blown out of proportion.

"This is not LeBron James saying this stuff, this is just a media phenomenon here that will pass in time," Gilbert said. "We're focused on this year and you know what, so is he, and he's focused on this year and next year and hopefully a long career in Cleveland, Ohio. We believe that and we think we have a great situation here and we're off to a great start."

The Cavaliers are 14-3 this year and are 9-0 at home. James is second in the league in scoring, averaging 27.8 points per game.

Barkley told "The Dan Patrick Radio Show" that if he were LeBron James he "would shut the hell up."

"I'm a big LeBron fan," Barkley said. "He's a stud. You gotta give him his props. I'm getting so annoyed he's talking about what he's going to do in two years. I think it's disrespectful to the game. I think it's disrespectful to the Cavaliers."

James responded by telling reports that Barkley was "stupid."
