PARIS - The struggling French auto and construction sectors are expected to be among the main beneficiaries of an economic stimulus package that President Nicolas Sarkozy will unveil later Thursday.

The package is expected to be worth around euro20 billion ($25 billion). Sarkozy is traveling to the town of Douai in France's industrial north to present the details.

France's stimulus measures form part of a proposed euro200 billion ($252 billion) European Union package to boost the bloc's economy through spending and tax cuts.

France's economy is being buffeted by the global financial crisis, and its auto sector has been particularly hard-hit.
