Philippines' inflation eases for 3rd month
MANILA, Philippines - Inflation in the Philippines slowed for the third straight month in November as prices of commodities, utilities and services declined, the government said Friday.
The inflation rate rose 9.9 percent in November from a year earlier after rising 12.2 percent in October. In the 11 months to November, year-on-year inflation was 9.4 percent, the government said.
The figure was better than expected. Central bank Gov. Amando Tetangco had predicted November's inflation would be in a range of 10.3 percent to 11.2 percent.
He said the price of rice and other foods continued to fall due to higher supply and favorable weather.
