TEMPE, Ariz. - Mobile Mini Inc., which leases portable storage containers and mobile offices, said Friday it is restructuring its manufacturing operations by laying off 135 employees at its Maricopa, Ariz., facility.

The layoffs represent about 90 percent of the work force at the plant.

The company said it had to make its fleet "right sized" due to the consolidation of its North American locations after it acquired Mobile Storage Group Inc. in February.

By laying off the employees, the company said it can now match production to consumer demand.

The restructuring should lower capital expenditures by at least $5 million in 2009, which should improve cash flow and allow the company to pay down its loans.
