I'm a college football junkie and I watched as much of the hockey game at Wrigley Field between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks yesterday as I did college football. I hate hockey. But this playing outside thing is pretty cool.
On Friday, I suggested to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that they should do this 15 times a year. Bettman said that would "take away its uniqueness." I followed that up with asking him how much he could do it. His reply? Once a year.
I'm going to say that there's got to be a middle ground here between stupidity and uniqueness. Given where hockey is in this country, how can you not put on a couple more of these slam dunks a year? So let's leave it up to you to decide and hope the NHL comes to its senses.
Questions? Comments?
