Funny Business
The business of public relations is like sales--you need to convince me to buy your message. It's a tough sell.
We at Funny Business love to poke fun at bad PR pitches. Just this week I received one promoting a program called "Famous in 40 Days!"--"Learn how to use charisma to be the star you know you are!" If I had charisma I would use it.
This video is must-see entertainment/education for every PR flack. It's called "PR Puppet Theater," a fun littler primer by veteran flack-ster David Moye.
In this particular episode, Moye coaches a crab puppet named John Crabinski on how to effectively convince fishermen and consumers to stop catching and eating crabs. The puppet sought out Moye's help after striking out with his original campaign--"Don't catch crabs!"--which, unfortunately, is a double entendre.
Learn how to craft a successful message without overloading a fragile journalist's brain. The more you watch, the more you laugh (well, except for the final minute which is Moye's direct pitch for work).
For more about the brains of journalists... watch this. You're not gonna believe it!
