NEW YORK - The Knot Inc. said Tuesday it has acquired Breastfeeding.com as the Web site operator, which is best known for its wedding planning sites, expands its brands focused on pregnancy and first-time parenting.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Breastfeeding.com offers breast-feeding advice, articles and videos, as well as a directory of lactation consultants.
The Knot currently owns TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com, both wedding planning Web sites, as well as TheNest.com, which is targeted to engaged couples and newlyweds. The Knot's parenting brands include TheBump.com, which focuses on pregnancy and first-time parenthood, and LilaGuide.com, a local baby services and community Web site.
The Knot shares gained 27 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $8.08 in midday trading. The stock has traded between $5.35 and $15.09 during the past 52 weeks.
