MARCUS SHRENKER'S FIRST RED FLAG
As you probably know by now, missing money manager Marcus Schrenker was captured alive at a Florida campground last night, with evidence that he slashed his wrists. Schrenker, a private pilot, is accused of ripping off clients, including other pilots.
Here's one red flag which should have given some people pause. Schrenker reportedly claimed to have 10,000 flight hours. That's an awful lot of hours for a guy who is 38 and isn't a full-time pilot. A lot of hours. It reminds me of the unnaturally low and consistent golf scores Bernard Madoff had.
WE HAVEN'T COME VERY FAR IN 2,000 YEARS
"The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt, the mobs should be forced to work and not depend on government for subsistence." --Cicero
GAS PRICE WATCH '09
Gasoline is on a tear! The ConocoPhillips station I drive by every day is up to $2.07 a gallon, up four cents in a day and up 18 cents--nearly ten percent--since New Year's.
