Silva: Venezuela's Mercosur bid to be OKed
CARACAS, Venezuela - Brazil's president says he expects his nation's Senate will approve Venezuela's entry into the South American trade bloc Mercosur in the next two months.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he thinks the Senate will sign off on accepting Venezuela into the trade bloc in March at the latest.
Brazil's lower house of congress already approved the measure in December.
Venezuela's bid to enter Mercosur has also been approved by the legislatures of member nations Argentina and Uruguay. Paraguay also has yet to approve the measure.
