CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela's tax agency has closed the country's biggest pharmacy chain for three days, citing irregularities in its books.

Seniat says the Farmatodo pharmacy chain's corporate office and 103 establishments have been closed for 72 hours starting Friday.

Superintendent Jose David Cabello says the agency decided to temporarily shut down the company due to irregularities in its sales and purchases books at the beginning of 2006.

The agency monitors businesses and sometimes closes or fines those that do not comply with tax laws.

There was no immediate reaction from Farmatodo executives.
