WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama says the U.S. can win over moderate Muslims if officials choose their words carefully.

He was asked in an interview Tuesday why he does not use the phrase "war on terror." Obama said he wants to emphasize that America is battling terror organizations like al-Qaida, not the Muslim world.

The Associated Press reported Saturday that Obama has used the catch phrase just once publicly, in contrast to its repeated use by the Bush administration.

Obama told CNN that it is important to recognize that the U.S. is fighting terror groups who aren't representative of the broader Arab and Muslim communities.
