Governor re-appoints utility regulator
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Gov. Ted Strickland has opted to keep the long-time head of Ohio's public utilities.
Strickland's office announced Friday that he will retain Alan Schriber, who was first appointed to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio by Republican Gov. Bob Taft.
Sometimes criticized as utility-friendly, Schriber was also re-appointed two years ago at a time some thought Strickland would take the commission in a new direction shortly after his election.
The state adopted new energy regulations last year that PUCO is currently working through with big energy companies.
