Minor League Team First To Give Away Shammy
![]() |
The Grizzlies announced today, with a spoof "As Seen On TV" YouTube video, that the team will be giving away a free shammy cloth with the Grizzlies logo on it to the first 2,500 fans that show up at their stadium for the game against the Salt Lake Bees on June 6.
"The idea actually started with the video and then evolved into the theme night," said team spokesman Paul Kennedy. "We think this will be a hallmark promotion for us."
Check out the video below, which we think is pretty admirable.
The "pitchman" is Jonathan Gilbert, who is a group sales account executive for the team.
Having picked up on the "As Seen On TV" craze pretty early on with our tournament, we at "SportsBiz" consider ourselves to be pioneers in this space. We also think the fact that the item they picked was a shammy and the ShamWow! won our contest is no coincidence. We expect many more teams to do a promotion like this this season.
