JA Solar Sells Supplies to BP Solar

China-based JA Solar said Friday it received a contract to supply solar cells to BP Solar International.
The value of the contract, which is part of a strategic cooperation agreement signed with BP Alternative Energy Holdings last fall, was not disclosed.
JA Solar will supply monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar cells to BP Solar in 2009, with an initial volume of 175 megawatts and with the potential to expand to 360 megawatts.
Shanghai-based JA Solar is already delivering product under its existing supply agreement with BP.
JA Solar American Depositary Shares [JASO Loading... ()] rose around 4.7 percent in afternoon trading.
