Will The NBA All-Star Game Weekend Get Hit With The Love Bug?

I just realized that I'm going to have to TiVo the NBA All-Star Game festivities on TNT on Saturday night. This is of course because the night belongs to my wife and I have to pretend that for one night I can deal without sports.

What that means is that there are going to be some others I'd suspect who will miss out on their appointment television altogether. What does that mean? It means the NBA and Turner might get hurt by Valentine's Day.

I looked at TV ratings from last year on Valentine's Day and the signs, or should I say cupid's arrow, do not point in the right direction. Ratings on the major networks were down 11 percent on Valentine's Day as compared to ratings seven days before. When compared to the week after Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, viewing on the Love Holiday was down 23 percent.

At least you have the actual game on Sunday right? That might not be the most positive eyeball turnout either. Although NBA ratings this season are up double digits, the All-Star Game has declined in viewership every year to an all-time low 6.3 million viewers last year.
