]closed at its lowest level since May 7, 1997.
7 of the 30 current Dow components were not in the index when the Dow last saw these levels. The 7 include: Bank of America, Home Depot, Intel, Kraft, Microsoft, Pfizer, and Verizon. In their place were AlliedSignal (now part of Honeywell), Eastman Kodak, Goodyear, International Paper, Philip Morris, Sears Roebuck, and Union Carbide.
Of the 23 components that have remained in the Dow since 1997, just under half of them remain in positive territory since that time.
