The major indices have some distance to go today if they are going to break weekly records. However, there are 4 Dow components that are on track for their best week in at least 40 years (individual stock data available from 1968): Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, GE, and American Express. Additionally, DuPont is within striking distance. 5 of the top 6 performers in the Dow this week also set records in November. Of note, most of the individual weekly records were also set in recessionary periods.

Biggest Weekly Gains for Major Indices:

  • Dow - Up 18.21% on 6/26/1931 (currently up 8.2% for the week)
  • S&P - Up 16.11% on 6/26/1931 (currently up 9.9% for the week)
  • NASDAQ - Up 18.98% on 6/2/2000 (currently up 10.2% for the week)
