Need A Job? Be An Economic Spy
Posted By:Jane Wells
Sectors:Media

While leafing through the latest Forbes, I saw an advertiser I hadn't noticed before—the CIA. The Central Intelligence Agency, which promotes itself as doing "The Work of a Nation", is now looking to hire economic analysts.

This is important for the following reasons:

1) The global financial meltdown has increased the CIA's need for people who can "assess foreign economic policies and foreign financial issues that affect US national security interests." In other words, China.

2) Wall Street has laid off many qualified people who read Forbes, giving the CIA an opening.

3) Just last month, the CIA began giving the President a daily economic intelligence briefing—a first—which came at the request of top administration officials. Help!

CIA Ad

The full-page ad says this new breed of analysts is needed, "Because national security depends on economic intelligence". You need a bachelor's degree in econ or finance to apply. However, applicants must be US citizens and have "the ability to successfully complete medical examinations and security procedures, including a polygraph interview." Ah, that.
