] is mining for new business in an untapped market—the CEO who must avoid flying the corporate jet. Rick Wagoner, Vikram Pandit—JetBlue's got your back! The airline has produced three "instructional videos" at its "Welcome Big Wigs" website to educate CEO's about flying commercial.
In the "Welcome Aboard" video, you learn that "JetBlue can get you to many cities where you already own homes, or hide money: Aruba, Vegas, St. Maarten, Nantucket. They even have service to DC, so you'll never be late for a Congressional hearing!"
But my favorite videos are the other two—"The Airport" and "The Flight"—where we follow "CEO Carl" as he navigates a foreign world: the airport. A visibly confused Carl is helped by his two assistants to learn about flying with "regular people". "This is a ticket kiosk", Carl learns, staring at the contraption uncertainly. But after being talked through the process of printing out a boarding pass, Carl discovers it's easier "than writing off a toxic asset".
But there's one huge change for these CEO's which JetBlue neglected to cover.
I'd love to see a video explaining to Carl the TSA screening procedures. It would be fun to see him take it all off. In fact, I think the next time I fly, I may ship my shoes, belt, jacket, watch, blackberry, laptop, and earrings ahead via FedEx to save time and embarrassment.
Carl and other CEO's should be warned that if they are forced to fly commercial in these economic tough times, it's best to come to the airport wearing only a bathrobe.
