Credit scores are tough to keep high in times like theses. Credit expert John Ulzheimer has these tips for getting your score back to where it should be:
1. Pay down your credit card balances to NO MORE than 10 percent of your credit limits. If you can’t do this then get them as low as possible.
2. If you have cards with low balances then pay them off. Your scores will improve the fewer cards with a balance you have.
3. If you have ANYTHING on your credit reports that is both negative AND incorrect (late payments, collections, past due balances) then you should dispute them with the credit bureaus. You have to get those corrected first because they are lowering your scores.
