New York Yankees

While many have called attention to the fact that the economy has seriously hurt sports marketing in recent months, anyone looking at the signage at the new Yankee Stadium and Citi Field certainly wouldn’t know that. For your reading pleasure, here’s a list of the official sponsors of the Yankees and Mets for the 2009 season. Please note, anything with an asterisk means that it’s not an exclusive deal.

A couple things to note here. Although there are no official designations given, two casinos — Mohegan Sun (Yankees) and Harrah's (Mets) — have invested big with the New York baseball teams. The most interesting sponsorship placement continues to be the signs for the Yomiuri Shimbun, the Japanese newspaper, and Komatsu, the Japanese construction equipment company. Both have continued to keep their signs in right field, thanks to the fact that Japanese slugger Hideki Matsui hits most of his home runs to that location.
