Obama Chia Pet |
But Pedott, described as a middle-aged white man (how middle-aged can he be if he founded Chia pets?) debated which version of the Obama head to create. After "nervously surveying black women about the product that the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago", the newspaper says Pedott decided to put two versions of the product in stores--Determined Posed Obama and Happy Obama. Both have plant material growing out of their heads.
While Walgreens may have pulled the product, you can still buy the Obama Chia Pets for $19.99 at ChiaObama.com . The tag line: "Can you grow one? Yes, you can!"
Update: Some of the Obama Chia pets are now making their way onto Ebay, "in mint condition" where I've seen prices as high as $60!
