Broadcasting from both the Chicago Board Options Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange trading floors, Stutland gives regular weekly commentary on the ins and outs of the market from Soybean futures to S&P 500 index futures to the CBOE's Volatility Index (VIX) on shows like Options Action, Futures Now, and Fast Money.
In 2011, Brian Stutland founded what is now known as Equity Armor Investments, LLC, an investment advisory firm registered with the SEC used to service clients in the financial world, develop fund structured trading strategies, and creating indexes. While acting as CIO of the firm, Stutland and Equity Armor Investments sub-advise to the KKM Armor Mutual Fund family, in order to employ their index based ARMOR and USARM strategies for clients, which Stutland was essential in creating. The firm manages over $50 million in volatility based investing strategies, giving the public one of the most unique ways to own risky assets in a much more efficient manner by lowering an investors total risk to the stock market. Stutland hasn't just relied on his volatility trading expertise to bring the public efficient ways of investing, but he and his business partner through their holding company Alpha II Zeta, LLC and Equity Armor Investments, also partnered with Sabrient Systems, where his investment, trading expertise, and marketing knowledge of the industry helped transform the research based stock analytics company of Sabrient into a huge successful management company, as the company went from zero assets under management when Brian first partnered with the company to now managing over $2 Billion in assets in their stock buying strategies that have yet to underperform the S&P 500 over the last 5 years.
As founder and head trader of the biggest VIX options market making firm on the CBOE from 2006 to 2011, not only has Stutland been integral in providing Chicago with a voice in the financial markets, his former broker/dealer Stutland Equities was an extremely successful market making business, trading multi-million dollar positions all throughout the credit crisis of 2008 up until this year.
After he graduated cum laude in 1997 from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in chemical engineering and later received a M.S.E. in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1999, he began his career trading in the pits at the CBOE.
