Comic book movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" slashed its rivals at North American box offices over the weekend, taking in $87 million to rank No. 1 in the first major debut of Hollywood's summer movie season.

Matthew McMcConaughey and Jennifer Garner's "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" landed in the No. 2 spot with $15.3 million.
Last week's champ, the thriller "Obsessed," dropped to 3rd place with a weekend haul of $12.2 million.
