Time to Put Money Into Stocks: Experts
CNBC.com Writer
Eric Ross, director of equity research at Canacord Adams, and Brian Belski, chief investment strategist at Oppenheimer, said now is the time to get into the market.
“It’s not too late to get into the market,” Belski told CNBC. “We believe the majority of the downside is behind us in terms of fundamental and price weakness.”
“The economy is stabilizing and the markets are liking it,” said Ross. “If you’re a trader, you can probably buy into the market and still play it upwards."
Ross did add a caveat: "There’s not a lot of fundamental bad news until the July reporting season. I’m not expecting bad news, but it’s the next fundamental time for [potential bad news].”
Ross Recommends:
Commodities—“I think the reflation trade is going to be big…We think it will come back in a very big way,” said Ross.
Technology
Ross said he would “stay away from financials and homebuilders.”
Belski is Overweight:
Technology—“Best position in terms of earnings, in terms of balance sheet repair, return on equity. They are in a clear leadership position,” said Belski.
Health Care
Telecom
Belski is Underweight:
Consumer Staples
Utilities
