The Latest Picks That Paid - Friday May 15th

Quicker Ticker

Our traders are good but you knew that. Check out their latest picks that paid in a feature we call “Quicker Than The Ticker.”

Guy Adami

On May 4th the Negotiator wrote the prescription for profits when he suggested long Geron [GERN  Loading...      ()   ], a bio-pharma firm. At the time he said, “these guys have 300, 400 patents they also have FDA approval for the first embryonic stem cell trial to deal with spinal cord injury. I think it has room on the upside.”

The Negotiator’s trade made healthy returns. Shares of Geron soared 19% ahead of efforts to lift the ban on stem cell research.

Karen Finerman

On April 27th the Chairwoman dialed up some profits with a swine flu-based telephone trade. At the time she said, “America Movil [AMX  Loading...      ()   ] -.I don’t understand why those guys were hurt. If anything I'd think that people would want to talk on the phone more.”

The Chairwoman was spot on with that “call.” Shares of the Mexico-based phone company popped 15% since her long recommendation.

On May 5th the Pit Boss took a look at the auto trades and told you – don’t go down that road. At the time he said, “The problem with AK Steel [AKS  Loading...      ()   ] is that a third of their revenue comes from the auto industry. That’s a big, big problem.”

The Pit Boss didn’t hit that pothole. Shares of AK Steel plunged 20% after the firm said the spate of dealership closings would trigger a loss of $80 million.

On May 4th the Ambassador poured himself a tall trade when he recommended Molson Coors [TAP  Loading...      ()   ]. At the time he said, “The big thing for these guys is how the synergy with their Miller merger of last year is paying off in the US. I’d buy this company.”

Looks like the Ambassador had both the time -- and the beer. Shares of Molson Coors jumped 9% after first quarter earnings more than doubled.

Now that’s Fast Money.
