Market 360: The Week's Best & Worst
Commodity Impact:
Crude oil for June delivery settled at $56.34 per barrel on Friday, down 3.91% for the week. Crude crossed the $60-level on Tuesday; a level not seen since November 11, 2008.
Gas Prices: The AAA current national average for regular gas is $2.169 per gallon down 40.49% from a year ago when the average was $3.645 per gallon
-The highest recorded average price by AAA was on 7/17/2008, when the national average was $4.114 per gallon
Currency Impact:
The US dollar rose against the euro and pound sterling on disappointing euro-zone growth figures, which undermined risk appetite, as investors' sought refuge from ongoing economic concerns. However, the Japanese yen gained steam versus the greenback, on track for its biggest weekly percent gain since October 24, up about 3.5% for the week at 95 yen late Friday.
