DONIPHAN, Neb. - Warren Buffett's autographed boots fetched $2,700 at auction, outpacing those of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and others at this year's Cattlemen's Ball.

The annual event got under way Friday with a golf tournament and wrapped up Saturday with a dance and the live and silent auctions, among other events.

Gates' signed boots pulled in $2,100 while boots from comedian Dan Whitney, better known as Larry the Cable Guy, fetched $700.

Proceeds from the "Give Cancer the Boot" event will go to cancer research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Eppley Cancer Center.
