GREEN BAY, Wis. - The APAC Customer Services call center in Green Bay says it plans to add 450 new jobs.

APAC general manager Joe Dickerson says the company has two clients that are each bringing business to its center.

Dickerson says APAC reached out to most of the 95 workers it laid off in April. He says most were excited to come back.

City officials say the news is encouraging, especially with the local unemployment rate about 12 percent.

Derek Lord is the city's economic development director. He says the hiring won't make much of a dent in the overall unemployment rate, but it's a promising sign.

Jeff Mirkes runs Downtown Green Bay Inc. He says the expansion could encourage other businesses to settle in the city.
