John Merrill, founder & CIO of Tanglewood Wealth Management, and Brian Belski, chief investment strategist of Oppenheimer, shared their market strategies with investors.

“We are in a cyclical bull, but a secular bear market,” Merrill told CNBC.

“Currently, we’re pretty defensive — we have about 70 percent of our equity allocation that is invested in line with the market, but we have strong overweights in U.S. high quality stocks and in Asia.”

Belski said the bull market had already started in March.

“Technology will be the new leadership coming out of this and we’re also big believers in cash,” he said. “The credit markets are not completely open for business and that being said, we want to try find those companies that have very strong balance sheets that can self-fund their operations.”
