NEW YORK - A cruise ship detained in New York Harbor because of a small hole in its hull is expected to be taken to a New Jersey dry dock for repairs.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Saturday that the Oceanic's several hundred passengers will be taken to hotels.
The Coast Guard says a routine safety inspection Thursday discovered a small crack in the ship's hull was leaking about one gallon of water per hour. Divers temporarily sealed the hole with epoxy.
The ship's owner, G.P. Cruises, didn't immediately return a phone message left Saturday at its office in Gardena, Calif.
The Coast Guard says the ship was damaged after leaving Reykjavik (RAY-kyah-veek), Iceland, on June 19 but before it arrived in New York. It had been set to continue to Venezuela.
